It's ALIVE!

The single cab is up and running. Thanks to Russell and Alex's help we got it running and I was able to drive it around the block (in the dark with no headlights ) all the way up to 3rd gear.

Of course I'll have a few more things to do before the show on Saturday but I think that it might make it. Who knows, there might just be another diamond in the rough here. ;D

Well after the big test drive, it was time to go to work on the sloppy shifting. Time to replace the shift bushings. Well what needed to be a easy project , turned into a big one.

The shift linkage is a two part with two shift couplers, one at the front and one rear the 2nd linkage conects to the trans. The coupler has two lock bolts. When i went to unscrew it the first nut broke off into the coupler. Drilled the broken one out and loosened the second one and it came out fine. Pulled out the front shift rod then went to remove the coupler but it was rusted and frozen to the linkage.
I could not turn it, heat it parts blaster it off. Time to take the dremmel to the coupler.



Removed the coupler and replaced and lubed the bushings and now it shifts better.

LOVE them dremmels !!! I use mine all the time...haven't used a hack saw in years !!

My plan is to try to blog as much of the repairs. I did not do that with the Square or the Fasty and I wished that I had. Plus by blogging it, people that i know that don't live here can see the truck. Having this website to do that in is a great thing to have THANK YOU !! again to Frank for the use of this forum!!!!!!
