I just installed a 3" narrowed adjustable beam and removed the adjusters to slam it all the way down. I am happy with the way it sits, but my beam is sitting about a 1/2" off the ground and the car is impossible to drive without bottoming out. I pulled the shocks they were bottoming out. I figured on going to air shocks and have been looking at aikewld's website to price everything out. I figured I would post this thread in hopes from getting some insight from IS. I want to know what I would need to do go with air shocks, where to find this stuff including air comp/ tank and about how much I'm looking at spending. Money is tight and I will probably have to do this in stages. I was thinking to get the shocks first. Is there as specific brand or height that will lay the car out? I have a ball joint beam and have already installed lowered ball joints. Please help.

I read on another post that the Monroe MA 765 shocks are the way to go for the front, but may rub a little on the trailing arms when fully inflated, but compressed will allow the car to lay beam. Do you know of a thinner air shock that will not rub and also compress enough to lay beam? It was also said that air shocks will not work well to support the rear of the car or that you will have to change them often so it's better to run bags. What's your experience?

I agree with IS. Airkewld sucks big time. Go to Pep Boys and compare different types of air shocks. The stock lots of them, you just need to do some homework. A tank with switches would be the best way to go though.......

in the front you should put 1969 rear air shocks and in the rear you should put 1972 super beetle rear air shocks to make your car dumped just like my 1956 oval

Do you recommend running through Rods to replace the torsions or do yuo just run the torsions without the grub screws in the beam?
