i took all the body panels off and gave the car a good inspection. thankfully it didn't need any major metal repairs, though it was certainly in need of a full re-paint due to plenty of surface rust here and there  wings got the treatment first. i have opted to rattle can the car as it is my daily and i want to be able to fix it up anyway anytime, if or when it gets damaged. i will keep cans in my travel kit, plus its a cheap option. im going for the rubb through look again, so first went on the ruby red  then the topcoat grey  with all the loose panels painted it was time to attack the body  |

stripped and the rust gets treated  inner arches painted and body primed  masked and prepped for paint  undercoat and topcoat complete  wings hung, ready for the rubb through  |

interior painted plum  i really like the contrast with the grey  replaced the one piece windows with og and fitted the rear pop outs  |

time to machine compound and machine polish the satin paint to a nice glossy shine  i fell ill and got behind with my scedule to get it finished in time for my local big hotrod n custom show, so a couple of good guys from my local vw club SCD, came round to lend to lend a hand.  after a solid 6 hour shift, we stopped for a well earned beer brake   very nearly finished with just one more day untill the show  |
