Welcome Kevin to the forum!! Glad to see you here and yes this is a fun place where VW nuts like you & me meet and have fun. When you get a chance post pictures of your ride, we like to see it. How is Chicago weather right now. What about the VW season, did it started already there? Over here, we are having our first VW show this Sunday (Hot VW's Drag Day - 3-15-09). We will be there at the event and will take pictures so you and everybody else can see them here on the forum. Again, Welcome to the Volksfamilia forum!!

Its 40dg today, and warming up to 61dg by tuesday, spring is coming finaly. We could always get 2ft of snow at the drop of a hat though. Show season wont start till end of May, to cold usually, or rainy. Got a indoor swap coming next weekend, not this one, hope to sell/trade/buy alot, its needed right now. Havent been putting to much work into my bug the last couple weeks, been having back probs, but its getting better (fingers crossed). Im behind the gun on it and got lots of work to do, but Ive got lots of good people in my club, harshwintersvw.com/smf1/index.php, (check out our forum, Robert has already, but not around there much lately) that are willing to help so hopefully either I get it together and get out there or I get some help and get that bitch running soon, cause after owning for 12 years and never driving it, Im ready to drive it. Wish me luck. Pics coming soon, Im at work, dont tell my boss. ;D

Ok heres my project Im trying to get running. Short story of it is I bought it in '97 got working on it, from the ground up, had some one put the rear window in (couldnt do that at that time) Helped put the rag in, bought lots of parts for it, met a woman, started a family, and did other projects (one not done yet also, the Hup) Found a Allstate trailer on the side of the road for sale, bought it, found another a month later and bought it, traded off the 1st one, and before I know it I was back into VW's, bought a cheap '61, and stalled on it with no cash. So I traded it off, still waiting for it to go though, part of the deal . Sold off a ton of accessories I had collected, and used that to fund the top notch build gone budget. Its a '63 with a few mods, even cut out the 1st custom dash to graft the oval dash in, changed my mind. Hoping to get it on the road some time this spring, or early summer, but lately back probs have slowed me up. Wish me luck. Jus a few pics. Putting my mexicans to work. ;D What I want it to look like for now, till I realy paint it, just spray bombing it for now, till I sell myself enough to afford everything to paint it myself. Heres my other back burner project, a compilation of who knows what parts in some casses. The body is a '26 Hupmobile (used to be a 4 door car) Custom made frame by me and my dad. Basicly started with some rust sheet metal and went from there, all built in the garage. Its not drivable yet. Im also into beach cruisers, that was my Monarch Rocket og paint, sold it that day for parts. Just picked up a Schwinn speedster the other day, actualy a middleweight.

Im hoping its driveable, Ive got most of the stuff to do it, besides forgotten and several misc parts, Im not doing finish body work, yet, just giving it a good once over and spray canning it for now till I either sell something to fund the paint supplys and tools or get a side job doing pergo floors. I was in the garage till 2am last night narrowing my beam 6", got the individual beams welded back together and ready to clean up and then mock up on the frame head. Once the beam is done I can bleed the brakes and the pan itself is done, besides torqing everything down. Still got tin to blast prime and paint for the engine, then assemble it on the long block, get it running again put on the chassis and take it around the block before droping the body on it once its painted. Install a new harness I have and all the misc parts and rubber I have along with a new rag cover. Thats all. ;D Not doing interior yet, that will be done when I paint if for real, hopefully next winter or next summer. I just want to drive it and have fun. Im not doing everything to a super high standerd right now, just getting it working mechanicly and enjoying if for a little and work out any bugs then finish it when I can or want to.
