I came up on this site while "SURFIN" the net this A.M. and thought it looked interesting.

Anyway, I'm Ainokea from Hilo Hawaii, currently living and working in Honolulu as a VW mechanic. I'm not a TECH as I was a mechanic before there were techs. 41 years now a VW mechanic.

In spite of being in this business for so long, I'm still learning and will be picking brains in my never ending quest for VW knowlege.

I started with air cooled bugs, buggies, and buses, went to the watercooled VW's for about 20 years, grew tired of the OBD garbage and went back to the simplicity of aircooled.

At present I drive, when my wife allows me, a 73 standard bug
with a 1955cc single 40 IDF Weber. Not a hotrod, but strong runner none the less.

Like I mentioned, I'm looking to learn more, more, and somemore.

glad you found us and we are like you, we are always learning new things about our aircools. We can always try to answer questions and if we don't know the answer we go and look for it till we get it.

Post pictures of you 73 standard bug and of your shop if you can when you get a chance. We like to check it out.
