Here is my bay, it's the 3rd one I've had. And it's a keeper.
It has a 1600, pic 31 for now. Building a 1641 w/ progressive 2 brl. for it.




'73 Super with a 1641(not my build), I picked up to flip but will keep for a little while... It's nice to let the bay rest some after nine months of daily use.






This is my baby, '73 Standard bug I picked up saving it from the sawsall. Pans were bad, beam bent on passenger side. Only small dents in the body.
Engine will be a 1641 w/ progressive 2 brl. (again, nothing ground pounding... Just fun to drive) 8)
Mods are - Deleting fresh air system, deleting half moon vents behind 1/4 windows, deleting fuel door and relocating inside trunk like pre '68.
May french in rear licence plate area...













(The bay in the pics above was going to be my camper till I received an unexpected phone call one afternoon)

This is what I hope to have her looking like some day.



The Bay beside the bug above has been sold. It was my second bay, a '70 with solid bulkhead. The black '65 bug was traded for the white bay at top.

By when do you want to finish your '73? Keep us posted on the work you do to it so we can see the restoration process!

The bay was a pop up, the wood in the top is all rotted out, parts are missing to hold it down. If I can't find needed parts I may make a rag top of it.

Will do on the '73, will be replacing the pans in a few weeks.
